Staying Cute with Face Masks

COVID-19 has changed our lives. The impacts can be felt through every aspect of our activities. Face coverings have been recommended by the CDC to encourage us to practice social distancing and keep our germs to ourselves. Wearing a face mask does not mean you have to sacrifice style! Here are my tips on how to pick a face mask for your coordinates.

1. Embrace Color

Are you finding it hard to match your mask to a perfect shade? Why not use another pigment in your pallet! Many printed pieces use different colors in their artwork. Don't be afraid to pull out the understated colors in your wardrobe, such as yellow, mint, brown, grey, and others! This cute lavender mask, with small pink roses, compliments my Squirrel Party dress perfectly! You could end up with a mask that matches more than just one of your lolita pieces. What a great excuse to wear more coordinates!

2. Play with Patterns

Look at the details of your lolita piece! Are there small themes, like hearts, flowers, or bears? My Maxicimam dress has lots of goodies to work with. The food and hearts in the print work really well with a cupcake and a printed heart mask! Using this same method, I paired this cute breakfast themed mask with Angelic Pretty's Honey Cake. The doughnuts and coffee works well with the pancakes, honey, and other morning treats. You can even use the small details, like lace, as inspiration. Talk about some serious versatility with your wardrobe.

3. Try Different Fits

There are so many different fits of face masks, even for COVID-19. While it isn't recommended that you expose your nose or mouth, you can play with how much the rest of your face is covered! Maybe you have some large round glasses you'd like to wear for a coord. Opting for a smaller mask may help to showcase them more. Looking for a more dramatic feel? How about a mask that features obvious filters, or covers more of your neck and face frame? You never know, you may keep a few masks to use in the future for lolita looks in addition to now!

Here's hoping that these tips will help you have fun with face masks!

Stay Frilly~

Not gonna lie I have always loved the look of facemasks with lolita even though I dislike the medical theme...so I am morbidly excited, lol. Thanks for the great tips as I’ve had a hard time even conceptualizing how to coord them!
