Wearing Lolita in Public
Here's how I handle strangers and their most common reactions to my alternative fashion.
“It’s really refreshing and heart-warming to see another black Lolita. While I consider myself a ‘baby’ solo lolita of sweet and gothic pushing towards 30 seeing listening to you talk about how some people view Lolita fashion is interesting. While I don’t wear the fashion outside of my home I do tend to wear Nu goth and Creepy cute aesthetics with pink hair and I’ve seen those reactions of, “why do dress like that?” or the stare.
You’re right it’s limited view and possibly ignorance about the fashion because right now in the mainstream on at least, it’s casual and conservative. I would like to also add majority of the people who act like that may also have some issues of their own maybe of regret of ‘fitting in’ and being shamed for being themselves. I could be wrong, lol.
Anyway, I think your blog is lovely and this video has given me the confidence to try to wear some Lolita items in public although, I think I would go with more of the Otome style.”
