Wait, Do I Have a Complete Lolita Wardrobe?
In 2016, I estimated how long it would take me to make a lolita fashion wardrobe. On that snowy February, I shared that this goal would take 10 years. Well, as I packed away my winter lolita pieces this weekend, I had a sudden realization:
Could it be that I have a complete lolita fashion closet?
My original wardrobe completion list goal included:
20 Dresses
10 Pairs of Shoes
15 Blouses
5 Skirts
5 Bloomers
3 Petticoats
3 Sweaters
2 Boleros
2 Coats
+ 50 accessories (socks, headpieces, wrist cuffs etc.)
Let's see how I've done!
Dress Goal?
✔ Achieved!
With so many different designs, there is always something to inspire me! I love the diversity of the prints, cuts, and brands in my closet. I can always find something to match my mood!
Shoe Goal?
✔ Achieved!
My lolita closet includes flats, heels. platforms, boots, and sneakers to help me get to where I need to go. Now that I have my shoe basics, I can focus my attention on unique ones, like prism, rainbow, or gold!
Skirt Goal?
✔ Achieved!
Skirts are now one of my favorite staples! They can be styled in multiple ways and are often less expensive than a dress. I find that skirts, including ones from name brands, are size inclusive as well!
Petticoat & Bloomer Goals?
✔ Achieved!
There's no need to worry about lolita undergarments in my house! From short to long bloomers and super poof petticoats, I feel confident from head to toe.
Sweater & Bolero Goals?
✔ Achieved!
When the weather is chilly, the extra layer from a bolero or sweater is a must. The fact that these pieces are an extra piece of cuteness to my coordinate is a bonus!
Coat Goal?
✔ Achieved!
As someone who lives in state of Maine, a winter coat is a must. I have no idea how I waited so long to get a lolita cape or a winter coat, but now that I do, I'm very thankful. The short jacket and cape help me stay warm and show-off my main piece!
Accessories Goal?
✔ Achieved!
With my love for jewelry and head pieces, it is easy to see how I met this goal first! Since these accessories are less expensive than other aspects of a coordinate, I can easily change the feel of a lolita outfit by changing these less expensive details. I love wearing main pieces in as many combinations as possible!
Then and Now
2023
2016
While I am aware that I have grown in this fashion, it is amazing to see evidence of it! In 2016, the thought of a complete lolita wardrobe felt somewhat unattainable. I love that, as my closet has grown, appreciation of this incredible fashion has expanded as well!
