What is International Lolita Day

As I select a dress and make the initial preparations for this upcoming Saturday, I can scarcely contain my excitement! In celebration of International Lolita Day, my local community is meeting in a charming town for a decorated tree festival, lunch at a cafe, and a gift swap.

I realize that there may be new members that may not know if this special day. I hope this blog post explains the significance of this semi-annual tradition.

What is International Lolita Day?

International Lolita Day is a special day for the members of our lolita fashion community. It is a day in which we celebrate this expressive and stunning Japanese fashion. Many Lolitas find this day as a great excuse to wear special coordinates! Lolitas may partake in lolita friendly activities or attend lolita fashion meet-ups. Many times, these events are held in a special place and/or have a theme.

When is ILD?

Instead of just one day to officially enjoy lolita fashion, we have two days a year! International Lolita Day is celebrated on the first Saturday of June and again on the first Saturday of December. Not only do we have two excuses a year to dress our best, but we have two seasons to do so as well! This way, most of the world can participate in a lolita holiday in summer and in the winter season.

Is there a proper way to celebrate?

You should enjoy lolita in whatever way you would like or what is realistic for you. I myself have had a wide range of ways to commemorate this day. On days that I have had to work in the past, I have watched Kamikaze Girls or have purchased from an online lolita shop. Other times, I have been able to take part in picturesque photos shoots, picnics on a grassy knoll, and high tea events! International Lolita Day is an excuse to enjoy the fashion you love and there are hundreds of other Lolitas who are celebrating with you in spirit. Feel free to enjoy the day they way that you would like to celebrate!

How will you celebrate this International Lolita Day? I would love to know your answers!

Stay Frilly,
