How I Pick My Lolita Purchases

Whether you are a seasoned lolita or someone who recently discovered the fashion, you may have noticed that there are many lolita items that you can buy! From the big name brands to secondhand shops, there are many places to spend your hard-earned cash. Sometimes shopping is impulsive, and sometimes it is planned. Here's how I choose what to get!

1. Is It Limited?

Is the item I want to buy only available for a small window of time? Many times, lolita pieces are released during a pre-order or made to order time frame. Is it a limited quantity, or a limited color? Maybe the item that I'd like to buy is on sale.  All these examples are great opportunities to add a piece to my collection. It is important to consider the rarity of the item, how much I want it, or the current price.

2. Does It Fit My Wardrobe?

Okay, we know that this is a great chance to add something to my closet. Is there anything I own that matches it? I like to make a list of everything I own that does match! This gives me a better idea how much I would have to buy in addition to this new piece. If I already have items that will match, great! It's helpful to know how versatile your own wardrobe is.

3. Is This Piece Special?
Do I Need It?

What about this item is special to me? Is it a treasured print or cut? Could it be a dream piece? Is this item one-of-a-kind? All of these are important facts, of course!

Is this something that I could use in my lolita closet? As a fashion-based hobby, there are many types of items you can use to diversify your coordinates. Could this item help?

Still at a loss? A simple pro and con list can help! This is often my last resort, but it helps me see a clear answer. Turning all these questions into a simple scorecard can make the difference between buying this item, or saving for something you want even more!

How do you choose what to add to your lolita collection? I'd love to know!

Stay Frilly~
